UK Parliament Votes in Favor of State-Sanctioned ‘Assisted Dying,’ With One Major Opponent…

Lawmakers in the United Kingdom took a major step towards permitting the euphemistically named “assisted dying,” also known as state-sanctioned suicide or euthanasia, for terminally ill patients in England and Wales. The proposal passed in the House of Commons with a vote tally of 330 in favor and 275 against after extensive deliberations lasting five hours.

The proposed legislation has been the topic of much public debate in the UK and allows doctors to aid patients who are over the age of 18, diagnosed with a terminal illness, and estimated to have six months or less to live in ending their own lives. The decision would require approval from two doctors as well as a judge, with patients required to self-administer the drugs.

The bill will now undergo more scrutiny in parliamentary committees where further amendments may arise. Even advocates of the measure admit it parallels other major social changes in the UK’s history, such as the legalization of abortion in 1967 and the abolition of the death penalty in 1969.

This development places the UK alongside several other jurisdictions where state-sanctioned suicide is already recognized. These include several European nations, Canada, New Zealand, and certain parts of the United States, including 10 states and Washington, D.C.

One major opponent of the legislation is Reform UK Party leader Nigel Farage, who tweeted on Friday: “I voted against the assisted dying bill, not out of a lack of compassion but because I fear that the law will widen in scope. If that happens, the right to die may become the obligation to die.”

Muslim Legislator Demands Blasphemy Law…

Labour Member of Parliament (MP) Tahir Ali has urged the British government to ban the “desecration” of religious texts and prophets. During a parliamentary session, Ali addressed Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, calling for the reinstatement of laws to restrict such acts, which the British officially discarded in 2008 and 2021, long after they had fallen into disuse.

Representing the Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley constituency (electoral district), Ali complained that such desecration fuels societal “hatred.” He referred to a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution that condemned the desecration of religious texts like the Islamic Quran.

Ali’s proposal comes during Islamophobia Awareness Month amidst increasing calls across Europe for more special protections for Muslims.

Prime Minister Starmer expressed agreement with Ali’s concerns, stating that desecration is concerning and should be uniformly deplored and declining to rule out a blasphemy law altogether. Labour, experienced electoral challenges in constituencies with significant Muslim populations in the July snap election that returned them to power for the first time since 2010, with competition from pro-Palestine candidates biting into their vote.

Denmark, after removing its longstanding blasphemy law in 2017, already reinstated legislation in 2023 outlawing the desecration of holy texts following several controversial Quran-burning protests. Danish officials argued the move was necessary for national security, citing increased terrorism threats.

Practically speaking, anti-Islam blasphemy is already de facto criminalized in the United Kingdom, with broad public order laws and laws allowing for “grossly offensive” posts over communications networks, including social media, allowing for arrests.

900-Year Old Market Set to Shutter.

The historic Smithfield meat market in London, known for its almost nine centuries of trading, is poised to close. The City of London Corporation announced that its council voted to cease operations at Smithfield and Billingsgate fish markets. They were previously slated for relocation to a £1 billion (~$1.3 billion) site in Dagenham. This plan was halted earlier this month, citing increased construction costs and inflation as key reasons.

The City of London Corporation emphasized it will provide financial support, potentially exceeding £300 million, to aid traders in relocating to new premises. The council will bring a bill to Parliament on Wednesday, seeking official release from managing the markets.

Originally, the relocation was part of a larger regeneration initiative announced in 2022, aimed at transforming the Smithfield site to include cultural and commercial entities like the London Museum. The Billingsgate location was set for conversion into a mixed-use housing area. The project was estimated to create 2,700 jobs in Barking and Dagenham, contributing approximately £14.5 billion (~$18.2 billion) to the British economy by 2049.

Public reaction was mixed, with some Londoners expressing disappointment, viewing the closure as threatening the city’s cultural heritage. Calls for reconsideration of the decision have already surfaced online.

Drones Detected Over US Air Force Bases.

A number of drones have been seen flying over U.S. Air Force bases in eastern England, according to officials. The sightings occurred Tuesday following previous drone activity in Suffolk and Norfolk, near RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell. Meanwhile, unmanned aerial systems (UAS) were detected and monitored around these bases between November 20 and 22, as confirmed by USAF Europe on Sunday.

In a statement, the USAF noted that the UAS varied in size and configuration and emphasized that none of the drone sightings affected residents or essential infrastructure within the bases. “The number of UASs fluctuated, and they ranged in size/configuration,” the statement explained.

While specific force protection measures were not disclosed for operational security reasons, Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MOD) said it “take[s] threats seriously and maintain[s] robust measures at defense sites. This includes counter-drone security capabilities.”

The source of the drone incursions remains unidentified. Consequently, the U.S. Air Force continues to monitor the airspace closely to prevent further unauthorized access.

Several suspicious incidents have taken place in Western countries as the proxy war between NATO and the Russian Federation in Ukraine has escalated, with packages igniting on several Western delivery flights and unexplained damage to subsea cables reported.

‘YOU GOT A LIOCENSE FOR THAT PLASTIC!?’ – UK Man Jailed for 5 Years for 3D-Printing Gun Parts.

A British man has been sentenced to over five years in prison after using a 3D printer to manufacture a workable firearm and possessing ammunition for it. Jordan Brown, a 25-year-old man from a small village near Blackpool, was sentenced to five years and two months in prison after Lancashire police discovered the 3D-printed firearm in his home.

According to local media reports, the firearm was created using a mix of 3D-printed materials and other materials, and ammunition was also found inside it. Detective Sergeant Vicki Speak of Lancashire Police stated, “The weapon was tested and found to be viable. Despite being manufactured with parts from a 3D printer, the harm which the weapon could cause was catastrophic.”

While 3D printers can manufacture most of a firearm’s components, viable weapons still require metal firing pins and other components to work reliably.

It remains unclear what motivated Brown, who pled guilty to the charges. His case comes just months after another British man was arrested for several terror offenses.

Jacob Graham, a 19-year-old admirer of American philosopher-terrorist Theodore “Ted” Kaczynski, a.k.a. the Unabomber, was convicted in Manchester in February for various acts, including preparation for a terrorist act and possession of information for terrorist purposes.

Petition to Replace UK Govt Soars Past 2 MILLION Signatures Just 142 Days After Labour Won Power.

A official petition advocating for a general election to challenge the newly established Labour Party government has surpassed two million signatures, marking rapid growth within a week, as of the latest update.

Initial reports recorded over 750,000 signatories, highlighting significant public engagement. The petition criticizes the government for allegedly retracting commitments made during the election campaign, prompting calls for an electoral challenge. As of Sunday after the petition was attracting 110,000 signatures per hour, one of the fastest ever petitions on the official UK government website.

The Labour Party, led by Sir Keir Starmer, ascended to power in July, securing a majority of 174 seats. This achievement, however, was accompanied by a modest electoral support of just over a third of voters, marking a notable contrast with the party’s previous triumph in 1997 under Tony Blair. Since assuming office, the Prime Minister has faced declining approval ratings, largely due to horrendous policy measures and worse cabinet picks. Among these are reductions in fuel subsidies for pensioners and proposals to extend the “death tax” to family-owned farms.

A recent Ipsos survey reflects the shifting public sentiment, documenting only 23% of respondents holding a positive view of Starmer, while 52% expressed unfavorable opinions.

Meanwhile, Reform UK, under Nigel Farage’s leadership, has been gaining political momentum. Farage’s appeal appears to be growing, with 28 percent of the public viewing him favorably. In response to the burgeoning petition, Reform UK officials, including Deputy Leader Richard Tice and MP Rupert Lowe, encouraged widespread public participation.

In the UK’s political system, petitions surpassing 100,000 signatures merit consideration for parliamentary debate, with the government obligated to reply to those exceeding 10,000.

Judge Rules Firing People for Opposing Illegal Immigration Is OK.

An employment tribunal has ruled that supporting Brexit does not qualify as a protected belief under equalities law in the United Kingdom. This decision came in the case of Colette Fairbanks, a former UK Independence Party (UKIP) councilor, who claimed she was unfairly dismissed by the non-profit Change Grow Live, which specializes in drug and alcohol support services.

Fairbanks was terminated after sharing supposedly offensive social media posts about immigration. She argues that her support for Brexit and her opposition to illegal immigration were philosophical beliefs, protected under Britain’s Equality Act, and that her employer had harassed and bullied her based on her political views.

However, employment judge Paul Jumble disagreed. “There has to be a distinction between a philosophical belief and a strongly held opinion. If, for example, ‘wanting to leave the EU’ was held to be a philosophical belief, then more than half the British electorate would have a belief that fell within [equality laws], which could not be the intention of the legislation,” he argued.

Jumble claimed Fairbanks had demonstrated “no coherent belief or set of beliefs,” merely “genuinely held opinions… [without] any underlying philosophical belief.”

British Police Arrest Jew for Calling Another Jew a ‘Kapo’ on Social Media.

Police arrested a Jewish man in the United Kingdom for labeling a Rabbi a “kapo” on social media, in just the latest arrest in the country over free speech online. Rupert Nathan, a 63-year-old living in England, was arrested by police and kept in custody for 12 hours over the comments he made on Facebook that were directed at Rabbi Gabriel Kanter-Webber.

Nathan called the Rabbi a “fake” and used the term “kapo,” which refers to Jews who helped the Nazis during the Holocaust and is seen as a by-word for betrayer or traitor among the Jewish community. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has yet to formally charge Nathan for his remarks, which could potentially see him charged with “malicious communications.”

“I admit that calling someone a ‘kapo’ is not a nice thing to do, but it is not a crime,” Nathan told British media.

He also highlighted another recent case involving journalist Allison Pearson, who was visited by police earlier this month after an allegedly offensive tweet made last year.

Pearson, who writes for the Telegraph, said Essex police came to her home regarding a “non-crime hate incident” and highlighted it as an example of two-tier policing in the United Kingdom.

“We are living through an epidemic of stabbings, burglaries, and violent crime… which is not being adequately investigated by the police, yet they had somehow found time to come to my house and intimidate me,” she said.

Following the riots sparked by the Southport murders of three young girls, allegedly by a migration-background teen found in possession of al-Qaeda terror manuals, several Britons have been arrested for speech crimes.

Among them was a woman who posted “misinformation” about the identity of the alleged killer.

Sadiq Khan Accuses Trump of Racism and Islamophobia.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has reignited his feud with President-elect Donald J. Trump, claiming the America First leader’s criticisms of him are racially and religiously motivated. “He wasn’t coming for me because I’m five foot six. He’s coming for me because of—let’s be frank—my ethnicity and my religion, so it’s incredibly personal to me,” the Labour politician alleged.

“It affects me, my family. What worries me though, it’s not about me and my family, it’s about the fact that he’s the leader of the free world,” he continued, suggesting that America is a kind of “lighthouse” that can send out “ripples of hope and love, but also ripples of hate.”

“I was speaking out against somebody whose policies were sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, racist, [it] wasn’t because I wanted to come to his attention, [it was] because I have a responsibility to speak out if I think something’s affecting not just Londoners, but… all of us,” Khan insisted.

Trump clashed with Khan after the latter began attacking him for his so-called Muslim ban—travel restrictions on Muslim-majority countries known to have little government and large jihadist contingents. The American leader called the London mayor a “stone-cold loser” and has at various times argued mass migration, which Khan supports, has changed the British capital for the worse.

The 2021 census recorded that the ‘White British’ population of Khan’s city had fallen to just 36.8 percent.

British Preschool Principal Arrested in DC Over Disturbing Video Request.

A British-born teacher who heads an expensive preschool has been arrested in a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sting operation after allegedly trying to solicit pornographic material involving a child. James Stewart Carroll, 55, appeared in court on Tuesday to face charges of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. He could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

Carroll has been at the helm of the National Child Research Center, an institution requiring an annual fee of tens of thousands of dollars, since 2018. The FBI began investigating Carroll in September after being alerted by Discord staff over illicit activities.

Using the username “CircumcisedLondonGay,” he allegedly uploaded an image depicting two minors, resulting in further investigation. Federal authorities traced Carroll’s online activities back to his residence, enabling them to initiate contact with him through an undercover FBI agent.

Throughout conversations on Discord, Carroll reportedly expressed a specific interest in boys aged between eight and 12. Subsequently, pretending to be a separated father, the FBI agent prompted Carroll to request specific videos of abuse, culminating in his arrest.

Carroll’s arrest comes just months after a Canadian LGBTQ pride group leader was also arrested for possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The head of the Maryland LGBT Democrats was also exposed in a sting operation this year by child predator hunter Alex Rosen. Democrat Michael Knaapen allegedly expressed a desire to rape a child.
