BREAKING: Britain Bans Huawei from 5G Network

Britain has banned the Chinese Communist Party-linked technology company Huawei from its technology infrastructure following months of pressure from campaigners both inside and outside the United Kingdom.

Huawei, long seen as a threat to Western national security, was effectively blocked by both technology experts in Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), as well as figures such as President Donald Trump, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, Brexit leader Nigel Farage, and National Pulse editor Raheem Kassam.

According to Sky News:

Boris Johnson has ordered all Huawei technology to be stripped out of the UK’s 5G network by 2027.

In a major U-turn, the PM also banned the purchase of any new 5G equipment from the Chinese tech giant from the end of this year.

Acting on the advice of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Mr Johnson has accepted new US sanctions on Huawei are a “game changer” in relation to the impact of the firm’s technology on the UK’s national security.

Downing Street had previously allowed Huawei to have a role in the UK’s 5G infrastructure – a decision that came little more than six months ago.

Conservative MP Tobias Ellwood told the BBC that global power struggles would become more “about control of data”, adding: “If you control data, you control the way we live… It’s right that we now stand up and have an adult conversation with China.”

Meanwhile, in the Daily Telegraph, former Conservative leader Lord Hague said opinion in Parliament “has moved so significantly against Chinese technology that the government” realised it “could no longer win a Commons vote on this issue without a major concession”.

Huawei has been identified by the U.S. Department of Defense as a Chinese military collaborator that provides the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) with backdoor access to its networks and devices.

The U.S. State Department identifies Huawei as “subject to a deep and pervasive system of CCP control.”

Leading left-wing figures have been found lobbying for Huawei in recent months, from Washington Post reporters, to Joe Biden-linked government staffers.
