Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign ‘troll army’ on X (formerly Twitter) attempted to weaponize Hurricane Idalia for political purposes, falsely claiming former President Donald Trump instructed his supporters — including a new mother in Congress — to not appear with the Florida Governor or promote the state’s response to the storm.
LEAK
1) Sources close to the Trump campaign have reported that the former president has demanded that his Florida congressional endorsers are not to repost news events featuring Gov. Ron DeSantis’ preparations for Hurricane Idalia…
One of the claims made by the anonymous “MaxTwain24” account is that Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) sent her staff to a press conference with Governor DeSantis addressing the emergency response to Hurricane Idalia – instead of appearing herself – because of the fictitious directive from former President Trump. In reality, Rep. Luna was unable to attend in person because she is recovering after having given birth several days prior to the press conference.
4) Rep. Luna sent staffers to a briefing so as not to be seen or photographed herself in accordance with the request from the Trump campaign…
Several high profile trolls – who appear to regularly communicate with DeSantis campaign staffers Christina Pushaw and Bryan Griffin – amplified the demonstrably false accusations made by the MaxTwain24 account including oddball Chris Nelson, the troll account CryptidPolitics, and grifter and con-artist Bill Mitchell.
‼️LOOK! Trump is allegedly telling his Congressional surrogates to not post any of Ron DeSantis’s hurricane briefings!!
I looked at their X pages and this appears to be accurate.
The Florida Congressional delegation targeted by the DeSantis campaign trolls for not posting about Hurricane Idalia had, in reality, addressed the storm on multiple occasions prior to the MaxTwain24 posts.
Rep. Luna had dedicated most of August 28th, a full day prior to the accusations, to keeping her constituents informed about the State of Florida’s emergency response. Cory Mills also began posting about the storm and relevant emergency information on August 28th. Rep. Greg Steube’s earliest post was at mid-day on August 27th. Rep. Matt Gaetz has retweeted emergency information from Gov. DeSantis several times on both his personal X account and his Congressional office X account.
All of these Members of Congress are backing Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination and have been targted by pro-DeSantis trolls following the MaxTwain24 posts smearing.
The DeSantis campaign trolls didn’t just stop with lying about Members of Congress. Nelson, specifically, has taken to targeting conservative activists on X as well, including The National Pulse editor-in-chief Raheem Kassam, claiming that these individuals have also been complicit in a ‘conspiracy’ to ignore Hurricane Idalia. The National Pulse published its first story on the storm on August 28th, over 24 hours prior to Nelson’s post.
Every one of these scumbags, many of whom live in Florida due to Governor Ron DeSantis’s Covid policies, have not mentioned a word about #HurricaneIdalia for political reasons.
Nelson, for his part, was ratioed in his replies. But his DeSantis-campaign handler, Christina Pushaw, spent the day doing yoga in Miami instead of aiding with the hurricane communications effort.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s social media troll army is celebrating former President Trump reporting to Georgia for yet another political indictment. Wedding DJ and always-online DeSantis booster Chris Nelson said of Trump’s surrender Thursday night: “Enjoy IndictmentFest 3!” He also bizarrely suggested to The National Pulse’s editor-in-Chief Raheem Kassam that his own indictment “is coming soon!”
Within minutes, Nelson’s tweet had been seen by over 10,000 users on X (formerly Twitter). Voter exposure to the cavalier online behavior of some of DeSantis’s most ardent supporters appears to be a major factor in the Florida Governor’s collapse in Republican primary polls. MAGA voters within the Republican Party represent a significant political block that any serious presidential hopeful would want to capture, yet DeSantis trolls like Nelson have routinely gone out of their way to disparage and alienate them.
Another DeSantis campaign troll, infamous internet celebrity and alleged scam-artist, Bill Mitchell, used AI generated images to portray MAGA voters as a ‘redneck’ stereotype, while DeSantis himself blasted them as “listless vessels”.
Multiplenationalandstate primary polls now show DeSantis falling from second place to third, and in one poll even fourth in the fight for the Republican presidential nomination. Both the FiveThirtyEight and the RealClearPolitics polling averages show a steady decline in support for Governor DeSantis since he officially announced his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
Nelson himself has a checkered past. In 2017, his ex-wife filed a restraining order against Nelson, whom she accused of domestic battery. It appears Nelson has been legally barred from owning a firearm under the Baker Act due to drug and alcohol abuse, as well as mental health issues. He currently spends much of his time tweeting late into the night about his fandom of DeSantis, and occasionally DJing at weddings.

“The French government has deployed a ‘barrier’ off the coast of Calais in Northern France in an apparent effort to deter illegal migrant boats traversing the English Channel and discourage people smugglers. Yet, the so-called “floating dam” of yellow buoys off the French coast bares more resemblance to a line of balloons at a child’s birthday party than an insurmountable barrier ready to repel tens of thousands of illegal migrants.”
“Former President Trump has unveiled a new plan declaring Mexican drug cartels as “unlawful enemy combatants”, as well as taking aim at loopholes in the American visa and asylum systems, ending birthright citizenship, and finishing his infamous border wall.”
“The war in Ukraine [and] the war against Russia led by NATO has crushed the European economy,” Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić has said, stressing during an interview that the “destruction of Nord Stream by the Biden administration, indirectly through proxies, is killing the German economy”. He said this has had significant “downstream effects” on the wider European Union, due to Germany’s status as the bloc’s economic powerhouse.”
“Wildfires that have seen 12,000 flee their homes on the Spanish island of Tenerife were started deliberately, officials say – but the press are still hyping climate change as a supposedly contributing factor.”
“Make America Great Again, Inc. launched a new microsite today calling tomorrow’s Republican Presidential Debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the “2024 Vice Presidential Debate” and encouraging visitors to participate in a poll for Donald Trump’s 2024 running mate.”
“Conservative commentator Larry Elder says he’s suing the Republican National Committee (RNC) after being left off the debate stage in Milwaukee. The National Pulse can reveal that the dispute surrounding his eligibility stems from a Rasmussen Reports poll published Monday, August 21st, which ostensibly gives Elder the one percent he needs to cross the eligibility threshold. Elder says he already surpassed the other requirements, including having over 40,000 donors across dozens of states.”
