Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has confirmed that he will continue in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, despite speculations over his withdrawal. Christie was asked the Hugh Hewitt radio show whether he supported former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, to which he answered affirmatively. However, he clarified that his support did not signify an impending exit from the nomination race, assuring listeners that he was still campaigning, highlighting an upcoming town hall in Hollis, New Hampshire.
A spokesperson for Christie also confirmed that the former governor is committed to his campaign bid for the Oval Office. Meanwhile, rumors of Christie dropping out escalated, as current New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu remarked on Christie’s waning campaign numbers. Sununu noted that the former New Jersey governor had “hit his limit” on his second run for the White House.
Sununu supports Nikki Haley and has criticized Christie over his lack of any feasible path to victory. Though Sununu and Christie are friends, the former’s endorsement of Haley was viewed as a major setback for the Christie campaign.
