President Donald J. Trump has further developed his position on the raging TikTok ban/sale debate, posing the question on his Truth Social account as regards Facebook and TikTok: “Do them both?”
The position implies an expansion of restrictions to social media for U.S. owned and operated platforms, which the existing TikTok bill does not provide for. The move may further rankle civil libertarians who expressed concerns the Biden regime would use such powers to target X, Rumble, and other platforms.
Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday: “TIKTOK IS LESS OF A DANGER TO THE USA THAN META (FACEBOOK!), WHICH IS A TRUE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE. THEY SPENT $500,000,000 AGAINST ME AND OUR GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY, “LOCKBOXES” AND ALL, AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO DO THAT. TIKTOK DIDN’T. LIKE CROOKED JOE BIDEN, FACEBOOK IS A GREAT THREAT TO DEMOCRACY, AND IT WILL ONLY GET BIGGER AND STRONGER IF TIKTOK IS TAKEN OUT. DO THEM BOTH? – AND RESTRICT THE MONEY ALLOWED TO BE SPENT ON POLITICS, AND LOCKBOXES, BY META/FACEBOOK!!!”
The news comes a day after National Pulse Editor in Chief Raheem Kassam told host Charlie Kirk he expected the 45th President’s position to shift from simple opposition to an outright TikTok ban.
