Taylor Swift’s Instagram endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris following the debate on Tuesday night resulted in over 337,826 visitors to Vote.gov, according to a spokesman from the U.S. General Services Administration.
Swift told her followers to visit Vote.gov for registration and early voting information.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” she announced, emphasizing early voting.
By 2 PM on Wednesday, Swift’s custom URL drove a significant amount of traffic to the Vote.gov website, though it is unclear how many of those visitors registered.
This marks the second time Swift’s social media engagement has boosted visitor numbers on the voting information site. An NPR report in 2023 noted a 1,226 percent increase in website traffic following a similar call to action by Swift.
Meanwhile, grassroots activists such as Scott Pressler and his Early Vote Action group have been busily registering voters for years without celebrity endorsement or fanfare.
