The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland is conducting a criminal investigation into Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) for alleged mortgage fraud. The investigation follows a criminal referral made by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Schiff is accused of altering bank documents and property records in several cases to secure more favorable loan terms. Allegedly, Schiff claimed both his Burbank, California, and Maryland homes as his primary residences to obtain advantageous mortgage rates. The allegations span transactions from 2003 to 2019. Notably, under the former Biden government, mortgage rates for American homebuyers surged to their highest levels in several decades.

FHFA Director William Pulte stated, “Based on media reports, Mr. Adam B. Schiff has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, impacting payments from 2003-2019 for a Potomac, Maryland-based property.” He added, “As regulator of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks, we take very seriously allegations of mortgage fraud or other criminal activity. Such misconduct jeopardizes the safety and soundness of FHFA’s regulated entities and the security and stability of the U.S. mortgage market.”

President Donald J. Trump commented on Truth Social, “Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA. I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020.”

Fannie Mae financial crimes investigators accused Schiff of engaging in “a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation” in five different loans. Trump added, “Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice.”

President Donald J. Trump announced on Wednesday that tariffs on India will be doubled to 50 percent in August, in retaliation for the country’s purchase of Russian oil. According to the White House, similar trade penalties will be imposed on other nations that continue to buy Russian energy as part of President Trump’s efforts to use trade policy to pressure the Kremlin to resolve the war in Ukraine.

The new Executive Order will ensure that India faces a 25 percent tariff starting on August 27 if the country continues to purchase oil from Russia. This is in addition to the 25 percent duty that Trump announced last week, which takes effect on Thursday.

President Trump criticized the Indian government on a social media post this week for purchasing ‘massive amounts’ of Russian oil and selling it on the open market. He stated, “They don’t care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian war Machine.” The order also directs administration officials to “determine whether any other country is directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil.”

India’s Foreign Ministry responded to Trump’s announcement late on Wednesday, stating its motives for importing Russian oil are due to the energy needed for its large population of 1.4 billion people. Indian officials signaled they did not intend to halt purchases of Russian oil. “It is therefore extremely unfortunate that the U.S. should choose to impose additional tariffs on India for actions that several other countries are also taking in their own national interest,” the ministry’s statement said.

Under the proposed changes, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would allow drones to operate below 400 feet and beyond the operator’s direct view, without requiring prior approval. To date, the FAA has approved 657 waivers for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations, including for Amazon’s Prime Air service in College Station, Texas. Yariv Bash, CEO of drone delivery company Flytrex, praised the proposal, calling it a “foundational milestone” for expanding drone-based logistics nationwide.

Bezos’s Amazon previously contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund, a move seen by many as an effort by the technology billionaire to repair his relationship with the America First leader.

The U.S. Secret Service conducted the investigation, and Buckley has been “charged by criminal information for threatening Donald Trump as the President-elect,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The Department of Justice (DOJ) noted that the maximum penalty upon conviction includes up to five years in prison, supervised release, fines, and a special assessment.

This case follows a similar incident involving a Rhode Island man, Carl Montague, who was charged in July for allegedly threatening Trump and members of his administration on Truth Social. Montague’s threats, posted on June 27, 2025, included violent language directed at Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. The FBI later determined that Montague did not have access to weapons or the means to carry out his threats.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, two would-be assassins made attempts on President Trump’s life. Ryan Wesley Routh, who was discovered by the Secret Service hiding with an SKS-style rifle amidst shrubbery on the edge of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, is currently facing trial. A judge recently ruled that Routh will be allowed to represent himself in his defense.

During an appearance on NewsNation’s Cuomo, attorney Alan Dershowitz, who previously represented convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, pushed back against allegations from several of Epstein’s accusers and called for the release of all files associated with Epstein. The retired Harvard Law School professor went so far as to suggest President Donald J. Trump should “lead the campaign and start tomorrow.”

Dershowitz insisted many of the claims against Epstein were fabricated, stating they were “all made up,” and dismissed the evidence of sex trafficking involving powerful men as “not credible.”

“I wish there were a client list. My fondest wish is that there were a client list ’cause I wouldn’t be on it. I wasn’t his client, I was his lawyer. He was my client,” Dershowitz said, refuting speculation about a supposed list of high-profile individuals connected to Epstein. He continued, “There was no client list. Only two people testified that they were trafficked. Both of them have been found to be complete liars.”

“So there’s no credible evidence basically about clients or about being passed around to people. That’s just all made up! And you know, I challenge anybody to come up with any testimony to the contrary of that,” he added.

Dershowitz advocated for the public release of files related to Epstein’s case, suggesting that sensitive information about victims could be redacted to preserve their privacy. He argued this would allow people to independently evaluate the credibility of the allegations. “Everything should come out and the president should lead the campaign and start tomorrow, saying, ‘I’m ordering my attorney general to go in front of every judge, seek everything out there,’” he said.

Addressing Epstein’s ties to former President Bill Clinton, Dershowitz acknowledged, “I can testify that Bill Clinton knew Jeffrey Epstein,” but added, “there was nothing in the files that suggests that he did anything wrong, that he was ever on the island, or that he ever had anything or did anything improper.”

Despite his own name appearing on Epstein’s flight logs, Dershowitz has long denied wrongdoing. He has admitted to receiving a massage at Epstein’s residence but described it as “therapeutic,” claiming it was performed by “an old Russian” while he remained fully clothed.

Dershowitz has also continued to defend Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking a minor. He recently called for her release. Maxwell has been speaking with the Department of Justice (DOJ), with some speculation that she is looking for a pardon from President Donald J. Trump.

President Donald J. Trump praised what he called a “highly productive meeting” between his special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as part of an effort to broker an end to the war in Ukraine.

In addition, Trump announced 50 percent tariffs on Indian exports to the U.S., citing India’s continued purchases of Russian oil.
