The former chief U.S. infectious disease “expert,” Anthony Fauci, was recently hospitalized with a West Nile virus infection. A spokesman said = Fauci is now recuperating at home and is anticipated to make a full recovery.
West Nile virus is primarily transmitted through bites from infected mosquitoes. Around 20 percent of infectees experience symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. Approximately 1 in 150 people develop serious and potentially fatal conditions.
Fauci indicated the infection likely resulted from a mosquito bite in his backyard. He was hospitalized nearly 10 days ago after showing symptoms, including fever, chills, and severe fatigue.
There are no vaccines or specific treatments for West Nile virus. The best preventive measure remains avoiding mosquito bites. As of August 20 this year, the CDC had reported 216 cases across 33 states.
