Matthews died on Sunday after being shot near a shopping center in Brookhaven, Atlanta. Just over a week after the shootings on Tuesday evening, Abel was found unresponsive in his cell. Notably, he had prior convictions for battery against a police officer, obstruction, sexual battery, vandalism, and assault with a deadly weapon.
