Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defense minister, has ordered a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip, vowing: “Thre will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed.”
“We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly,” Gallant said.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) believe as many as a thousand Hamas terrorists entered Israeli territory on Saturday, with military and other officials as well as ordinary civilians massacred at scale, hostages dragged back to Gaza, and a number of towns occupied.
Hamas took longer to dislodge from these areas than expected, but the IDF reported it was back in control of all border towns on Monday morning, though it was “possible there are still terrorists in the area.”
Israel confirms around 700 of its citizens were killed during the incursion, although this could rise as more information emerges from the targeted areas.
The fate and total number of the hostages taken by Hamas also remains unclear, although at least some have already been murdered.
