Texas has now bused some 50,000 migrants from its territory to leftist “sanctuary cities” out of state, sparking outcry from mass migration advocates who imagined the border crisis would only be an issue for conservative-led border states.
New York City is currently the top destination for the Texan busing program, with some 18,500 migrants on almost 400 buses having arrived in the Big Apple since August 2022.
Democrat city mayor Eric Adams, who once advertised NYC as a “sanctuary city” and celebrated Joe Biden’s move to halt construction of Donald Trump’s border wall in 2021, now says he believes the migrant crisis “will destroy New York City.”
Chicago has received the second-largest number of migrants from Texas, at over 13,500 on almost 300 buses, while Washington D.C. has been sent over 12,500.
Denver, Colorado, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have received around 3,200 migrants apiece, while Los Angeles, which was added as a destination comparatively recently, has received just shy of a thousand.
Mayor Admas is not the only Democrat leader in the affected cities and states to be crying out now the border crisis is on his doorstep, with Illinois’s Governor J.B. Pritzker also complaining “the federal government’s lack of intervention and coordination at the border has created an untenable situation for Illinois.”
For all the furore about the busing program in Democrat cities, however, they are still dealing with only a fraction of the influx being inflicted on conservative-led border states, with a record-breaking 11,000 migrants crossing over in a single day in late Septemeber.
