NEW YORK, NY – Former President Donald J. Trump rocked the house at the largest New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) gala in decades, blasting his political rivals, cracking jokes about his fellow GOP presidential nominee candidates, and lauding the work of hardline ‘America First’ stalwarts in the audience on Saturday night.
The National Pulse was a sponsor of the event which attracted almost 1,000 black tie-wearing attendees to the illustrious Cipriani Wall Street venue, where Trump waxed lyrical about aspects of his personal life, his policy ambitions, and regaled the audience with stories from the 2016 campaign.
Club President Gavin Wax introduced Trump to massive fanfare, at the event which saw dignitaries and notables such as Congressman Matt Gaetz, Stephen K. Bannon, Senator Roger Marshall, Senator J.D. Vance, Congressman Lauren Boebert, Congressman Cory Mills, and many more.
In classic Trump fashion, the 45th President of the United States often went off script, tearing into political opponents like Joe Biden, Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley. He also took the time to blast the “fake news media” for misinterpreting his comments and jokes, especially those made at the expense of Joe Biden.
Trump’s most powerful line came when discussing Biden’s framing of his ‘MAGA’ movement as “extreme”.
“MAGA stands for Make America Great Again,” Trump reminded the audience, before going on to admit, “I am extreme about making America Great Again,” in a statement not dissimilar to former Senator Barry Goldwater’s famous line: “Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
The New York Young Republican Club is already beginning to plan next year’s event, with the gala turning more into a “black tie rally” in the words of organizers, due to the audience’s energy, volume, and the content of the speeches on the night.
