House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, a Louisiana Republican, has formally endorsed former president Donald Trump for the presidential race of 2024. Scalise joins Speaker Mike Johnson and GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, making him the latest top-ranking Republican to offer his public support to Trump, who is widely anticipated to be the Republican nominee.
“I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024, and I look forward to working with President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden’s failed policies,” Scalise wrote on X.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Scalise criticized the Biden government’s handling of the border crisis, the economy, and energy policy. Scalise highlighted the sharp rise in gas prices, difficulties in housing affordability, doubled mortgage rates, and record high inflation and interest rates, attributing all of these negative developments to the Biden regime’s mismanagement of the nation’s economy.
Scalise has also contrasted Biden’s strategies with Trump’s past leadership, asserting that American workers and families thrived during Trump’s previous term. His endorsement brings the tally of public support for Trump from sitting Republican House members to at least 95. This crucial endorsement comes during the lead-up to the Iowa caucuses on January 15 and the New Hampshire primary the following week.
