Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador says the Gem State is being “held hostage” by the Joe Biden regime’s failure to secure the border, with drug trafficking, in particular, having a deadly impact on Americans even in the Pacific Northwest.
”The last three years of the Biden Administration have been an absolute windfall to human traffickers, modern-day sex slavery, drug cartels, and foreign terrorist groups exploiting the lack of enforcement and flooding across our southern border,” said AG Labrador.
He stressed that “[e]very state, including Idaho, feels the impact from this lack of border enforcement,” noting that fentanyl deaths in his state tripled in 2021 and then doubled in 2022.
Overdose death estimates for 2023 are not yet available. Still, early indications are not good, with the state seizing tens of thousands of fentanyl pills from drug dealers, many with ties to Mexico.
“We are being held hostage to the Administration’s inaction,” Labrador complained.
Idaho Governor Brad Little has announced he is sending state troopers to assist Texas, which is currently locked in a fierce dispute with the federal government over border enforcement, to help secure the frontier.
“There’s a direct tie between the loose southern border and the flood of deadly illegal drugs like fentanyl coming into Idaho communities. These drugs are taking the lives of our loved ones, family members, friends and neighbors,” Little said.
Donald Trump has also warned the border crisis is “poisoning the blood” of the country by facilitating the spread of drugs and disease.
