Jeffrey Toobin, former CNN legal analyst, returned to the network recently to comment on the Georgia case against Donald Trump, asserting it was “going nowhere,” likening the day to a triumph for the former president. Toobin, who previously served as a federal prosecutor, was joined by DeKalb County’s former district attorney, Gwen Keyes, on CNN’s discussion panel.
Toobin’s assessment was stark, remarking, “It’s an embarrassment… this case is going nowhere very quickly.” He also suggested the unlikelihood of the case reaching trial before the fall elections, given the lengthy jury selection process seen in other Georgia racketeering cases.
Georgia Judge’s recent ruling mandated that Willis either distance herself from the Trump case or dismiss special prosecutor Nathan Wade, due to allegations of an inappropriate romantic relationship. Following the ruling, Wade tendered his resignation.
