Far left Congressman Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon Building of the House office building on Saturday, with the intent of disrupting official proceedings. The moment was captured on camera and confirmed by witnesses, and occurred just as Democrats were attempting to delay a vote on a Republican stopgap spending bill.
Staten Island GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ office announced that they intend to have Bowman expelled from the chamber following the incident. Numerous Republican legislators have condemned the act, with upstate GOP Congressman Nick Langworthy calling for a criminal investigation.
Creating a false fire alarm is considered a misdemeanor in the District of Columbia and can result in up to six months of imprisonment.
Many of those charged following the January 6th protests at the Capitol are now serving years in prison for the crime of disrupting official proceedings.
