Tonight’s Briefing
Foreign Policy
1. Trump Declares Strait of Hormuz Reopen, Israel ‘PROHIBITED’ From Bombing Lebanon.
The president claims a “great victory” as Iran commits to reopening the strait — and tells Israel its Lebanon campaign is over.
■ Pulse Points  /  Make Lebanon Great Again?
What Happened —  President Trump declared a “great victory” in the Middle East, with Iran committing to “fully” reopen the Strait of Hormuz following a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Trump also declared Israel is “PROHIBITED” from carrying out further attacks in Lebanon by the U.S.
The Detail —  The Strait of Hormuz is a key supply route for energy and fertilizer, and its closure by Iran caused fuel shortages and price rises worldwide. Trump insists the reopening is not tied to the Lebanon ceasefire, but announced on Truth Social that Israel “will not be bombing Lebanon any longer.” Israel had pushed for weeks of additional strikes against Hezbollah targets.
Key Quote —  “This deal is not tied, in any way, to Lebanon, but we will, MAKE LEBANON GREAT AGAIN!” – President Donald J. Trump
Impact —  The reopening could stabilize global oil markets and ease a jet fuel crisis threatening hundreds of thousands of flight cancellations. Oil and gas prices have already dropped, but the situation remains fragile, with claims the Lebanon ceasefire is already being violated. Trump responded negatively to a belated UK-France proposal for a multinational passage mission, writing that he “TOLD THEM TO STAY AWAY.”

Religion · Data
2. Young Men Are Driving a Surprise Revival in Religious Faith.
Gallup finds young men now surpass young women in viewing religion as “very important” for the first time in 25 years.
■ Pulse Points  /  Bastion of Faith
What Happened —  A Gallup poll from 2024-2025 shows that 42 percent of young men now consider religion “very important,” a significant leap from 28 percent in 2022-2023, surpassing young women, who remain steady at 30 percent.
The Detail —  This marks a reversal of a long-standing trend. The change is largely concentrated among young Republicans, while religious participation among young Democrats has stayed the same or declined. Experts suggest social isolation, political identity, and the search for community may be driving the shift. The gender gap reversal is mainly limited to people under 30.
Key Quote —  “With the recent surge in their attachment to religion, young men have returned to the high point of their expressed religiosity of the past 25 years. By contrast, women of all age groups and older men are at or near their historical lows.” – Gallup
Impact —  Positive trends have been seen in the Roman Catholic Church in the United States, Britain, and France, which recorded a record number of adult baptisms in 2026.

3. Newsom PAC Spent Over $1.5m Boosting Sales of His Memoir With Donor Cash.
Two-thirds of the governor’s book sales were bulk purchases by his own political action committee.
■ Pulse Points  /  Young Man in a Hurry (to Buy His Own Book)
What Happened —  Gavin Newsom’s Campaign for Democracy Committee spent $1,561,875 purchasing copies of his memoir, Young Man in a Hurry, and distributing them to donors who contributed any amount to his PAC.
The Detail —  The book distribution accounted for approximately two-thirds of the memoir’s total print sales, with about 67,000 copies sent to donors. The book appeared on the New York Times best-seller list but was marked with a dagger indicating a mix of organic and bulk sales. The $1.5 million was easily the single largest expense for Newsom’s federal PAC in Q1 2026.
Flashback —  The memoir glosses over Newsom’s controversial relationship with a 19-year-old college student when he was the 39-year-old Mayor of San Francisco. However, it does acknowledge that he destroyed the marriage of his deputy chief of staff by having an affair with the man’s wife.

Corruption
4. You Owe $18 Million to Cover for Congressional Sexual Harassment.
Congress quietly settled nearly 300 workplace disputes with taxpayer funds — and the names remain hidden.
■ Pulse Points  /  The Slush Fund
What Happened —  Between 1997 and 2019, Congress used over $18 million in taxpayer funds to settle nearly 300 workplace disputes, including claims of sexual harassment, through the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR).
The Detail —  Reforms in 2018 mandated that lawmakers repay settlement costs, but critics argue the system still lacks transparency, as the names of lawmakers involved are often hidden. House Oversight has moved to subpoena records of past settlements.
Key Quote —  “A friendly reminder that House Oversight subpoenaed the records of the congressional sexual harassment slush fund and we will be releasing them. Maybe we’ll see more resignations, you never know.” – Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL)
Impact —  The 2019 report is back in the spotlight following allegations against Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who has suspended a bid for Governor and resigned from Congress amid a slew of accusations of sexual harassment and rape.
● ● ●
Surveillance
5. Senate Passes Brief Extension of FISA Surveillance Powers After Fight Among House GOP.
Twenty Republican holdouts forced a 10-day stopgap after derailing Speaker Johnson’s 18-month extension.
■ Pulse Points  /  Ten Days to Figure It Out
What Happened —  The House passed a 10-day extension of Section 702 of FISA early Friday after overnight votes in which 20 Republican lawmakers demanding reforms derailed a longer extension. The Senate passed the stopgap unanimously the same morning.
The Detail —  Section 702 allows U.S. intelligence agencies to monitor non-citizen communications abroad without a standard warrant. House Republicans want reforms including warrant requirements to prevent abuses against U.S. citizens. Speaker Johnson pushed for an 18-month extension, but conservative opposition forced the shorter stopgap.
Flashback —  Trump backed the long-term extension despite FISA having been weaponized against him during the Russia collusion investigation. He wrote on Truth Social: “I am willing to risk the giving up of my Rights and Privileges as a Citizen for our Great Military and Country!”

Crime
6. D.C. Sees Plunge in Murders, Carjackings, Under Tough-on-Crime Regime.
Murder rates on track for a historic low — down from 274 under Biden to a projected 42 this year.
■ Pulse Points  /  The Pirro Effect
What Happened —  Washington, D.C., is on track to record approximately 42 murders this year, the lowest since at least 1930 — a dramatic decrease from 274 murders two years ago under Biden. Carjackings have dropped 44 percent.
The Detail —  The decline is attributed to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, who has prosecuted offenders much more aggressively than Biden-era predecessors, seeking capital punishment in the most severe cases. Federal law enforcement and the National Guard have been deployed to compensate for local police staffing cuts by the Democrat-dominated city council. A policy of not charging juveniles as adults has been reversed, pushing the arrest-to-offense ratio for carjackings from 25 percent to 58 percent.
Impact —  The Trump administration’s changes have created a significantly more hostile environment for criminals. However, a surge in killings in recent days, attributed to “interpersonal violence between groups,” suggests there is still work to do.

7. Air Canada is Suspending Flights to New York.
Jet fuel costs have doubled since the start of the Iran conflict, making the JFK route uneconomic.
■ Pulse Points  /  Grounded
What Happened —  Air Canada will suspend flights from Toronto and Montreal to JFK Airport between June 1 and October 25, citing unsustainable jet fuel costs driven by the Iran conflict. The airline will continue serving LaGuardia and Newark.
The Detail —  Jet fuel prices have roughly doubled during the Iran conflict, reaching $4.32 per gallon, up from $2.50 before the war. Airlines including Lufthansa and Delta have already announced cost-cutting measures. Although oil prices have shown some recent decline after the Strait of Hormuz was declared reopened, uncertainty remains.
Key Quote —  “As jet fuel prices have doubled since the start of the Iran conflict and some lower profitability routes and flights are no longer economic, we are making schedule adjustments accordingly.” – Air Canada spokesman

8. Afghan Migrant Charged With Raping Rescue Animals.
A 19-year-old Afghan caught on camera abusing sheep and goats at a French educational farm near Marseille.
■ Pulse Points  /  Caught on Camera
What Happened —  A 19-year-old Afghan migrant was arrested in France for allegedly raping sheep and goats at an educational farm near Marseille. The animals were found tied up and injured, prompting farm owners to install cameras that captured the acts.
The Detail —  Police arrested the suspect on April 10 after catching him in the act. DNA evidence linked him to multiple abused animals. He arrived in France in November 2025 and was awaiting residency. He has been ordered held in pre-trial detention ahead of a trial scheduled for June 22.
Flashback —  The incident comes weeks after a case in Italy involving migrants who allegedly sexually abused a kitten in Rome, sparking major protests.

EXCLUSIVE: Burnham’s New Strategy Chief Worked With Convicted Paedophile to Downplay UK Grooming Gangs.

Matthew McGregor, former Director of Campaigns and Communications for Hope Not Hate and current Head of Political Strategy for new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, co-wrote a report downplaying the nationwide grooming gang scandal with a pedophile, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal. Support our work here.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Matthew McGregor, Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s Head of Political Strategy, co-authored a report with convicted pedophile Liron Velleman, downplaying what they described as “so-called ‘grooming’ gangs.” Velleman, also a sitting Labour Party elected councillor, was convicted this year after sending images of his penis to someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, as well as asking if she was “at home alone” and demanding to know whether she was a virgin, as well as asking: “Show me your bra.”
📺 DETAIL: The 2021 Hope Not Hate report, titled ‘Backlash, Conspiracies & Confrontation,’ focused on “the rise in awareness and popularity of conspiracy theories” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Matthew McGregor and Liron Velleman are listed as “contributors.”
On Page 87, in ‘Section 6 – Mainstream Hate,’ a report titled ‘Denialism Must End,’ opens by stating: “LIRON VELLEMAN and MATTHEW MCGREGOR review another year in which poison infected the mainstream.”
On Page 35, in ‘Section 2 – Racism,’ in a sub-section called ‘Truth Under Siege,’ the report describes “trumped-up grooming allegations” in England, and supporters of anti-grooming gangs activists of “accusing police and the media of a ‘cover up’ when police found no evidence of grooming.
The segment refers to the case of Eleanor Williams, who claimed she had been abused by a grooming gang. However, in 2023, three brothers, Joman, Amran, and Alman Miah, were prosecuted for historic sexual abuse of multiple white working-class girls between 1996 and 2010. The offenses spanned rape, indecent assault, kidnapping, and child sex abuse.
While different from the Williams investigation, the case demonstrated that organized child sexual exploitation had, in fact, occurred. On Page 115, under a sub-section titled “Far Right Alternative Media And ‘Citizen Journalists,'” the report predicted: “If the lockdown measures ease and the pandemic becomes less all consuming, he is likely to return to his longstanding preoccupation with so-called ‘grooming’ gangs.
On Page 127, under a sub-section titled “Populist/Radical Right,” the report provided a brief overview of Hearts of Oak, a British political commentary channel on YouTube, referencing a Westminster protest organized by the channel’s founders demanding “the deportation of ‘grooming’ gang members.”
🎯 IMPACT: In 2023, in his capacity as Political Organizer for Hope Not Hate, Velleman was invited to the UK Parliament to provide oral evidence regarding the Online Safety Bill, a piece of legislation that has since been passed into law, pitched as aiming to protect children from online pornography, but heavily criticized for its censorious and anti-privacy provisions. Velleman gave evidence regarding protecting “children and adults alike” from “terrorist, illegal, abusive and harmful content.”
Earlier this year, Velleman was sentenced to an eight-month suspended prison sentence for sending a video of his penis to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl in 2024. Velleman was also serving as a Labour Party elected councillor at the time.
Prior to assuming his duties as Head of Political Strategy at Number 10, the Prime Minister’s official residence, McGregor deleted his X (formerly Twitter) account following an expose by The National Pulse revealing his previous posts attacking and smearing President Donald J. Trump and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
McGregor served as Director of Campaigns and Communications for Hope Not Hate from January 2018 to October 2021. McGregor’s involvement in the report is likely to increase scrutiny of Prime Minister Burnham, who has already been accused of helping to cover up the crimes of grooming gangs while serving as Labour Mayor of Greater Manchester.

Syrians Sentenced for Raping Teen at Migrant House.

Two Syrian men have been sentenced to 11 years in prison each for the rape of an intoxicated teenage girl they encountered at a nightclub in England.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Two Syrian nationals have each been sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of raping an 18-year-old who was too intoxicated to consent following a night out in Winsford, England. Prosecutors said refugee Dilgash Adil, 32, bought the victim multiple drinks at a nightclub on December 21, leaving her severely intoxicated before taking her to a house in multiple occupation (HMO) for migrants, where he raped her and then facilitated a second assault by asylum seeker Diyar Mohammed Abdulsalm, 28.
📺 DETAIL: The victim repeatedly lost consciousness during the attacks and later called her mother in distress, saying she did not know what had happened. Adil was convicted of one count of rape, while Abdulsalm was convicted of two counts of rape. Both denied the allegations and claimed the sexual activity was consensual. Judge Simon Berkson told the defendants they had deliberately exploited the victim’s vulnerable condition, describing her as incapable of giving consent. The court heard Adil was granted refugee status after arriving in Britain in 2020, while Abdulsalm had claimed asylum in 2023, and his immigration application was still pending when the offenses occurred. In a victim impact statement, the victim said she now suffers panic attacks, struggles to sleep, and no longer feels safe around strangers.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “It is quite clear you both took advantage of her vulnerable state. She was frankly in no fit state to consent to anything, in and out of consciousness.” – Judge Simon Berkson during sentencing.
🎯 IMPACT: The victim has reported ongoing trauma, including panic attacks, anxiety around strangers, and difficulty sleeping. Her attackers will likely be eligible for early release after serving two-thirds or even half of their sentences, under Labour Party reforms aimed at freeing prisoners faster, supposedly to ease overcrowding.

UK PM’s Strategy Chief Accused Trump Admin of ‘Torturing Children.’

Matthew McGregor, former Director of Campaigns and Communications for Hope Not Hate and top advisor to new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, trashed President Donald J. Trump and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage during his tenure at the far-left activist group.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Matthew McGregor, who has recently been appointed as British Prime Minister Andy Burnham‘s strategy chief, similar influence to Stephen Miller at the White House, previously spent years working for the far-left group Hope Not Hate organization, where he publicly attacked both President Donald J. Trump and Nigel Farage in a series of inflammatory social media posts, calling the President a racist who wanted to kill Black Lives Matter protesters.
📺 DETAIL: During the 2019 parliamentary elections in Britain, McGregor declared that “Farage’s dangerous, divisive politics will be on the ballot paper in 600 seats across this country,” echoing Hope Not Hate’s broader campaign to portray the Brexit Party, now Reform UK, and its candidates as racist, Islamophobic, and linked to extremism. In May 2020, amid nationwide protests in the United States following the death of George Floyd, McGregor branded Trump a racist, writing that it was “heartbreaking that this racist ever made it to the Oval Office” after accusing the President of encouraging violence against protesters. Earlier that year, McGregor also said in reference to White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller,” American immigration policy is being run by a white supremacist who is an enthusiastic supporter of torturing children.”
💬 KEY QUOTE: “After years of pouring abuse on those peacefully protesting about police killings of black Americans, Donald Trump is now inciting law enforcement to shoot at people protesting the murder of #GeorgeFloyd. It is heartbreaking that this racist ever made it to the Oval Office.” – Matthew McGregor
🎯 IMPACT: The past social media posts, which McGregor deleted after a previous report by The National Pulse exposing them, show deep hatred toward both President Trump and Nigel Farage and are likely to impact relations between Prime Minister Burnham and President Trump, as well as the relationship between Britain and America as a whole.

Prosecutor Suspended for Assisting Illegal Alien Sex Criminal, Starting Relationship With Him.

A prosecutor in Missouri allegedly aided an illegal immigrant charged with sexual assault and carried on a romantic relationship with him.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: A Missouri judge has temporarily stripped Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston of her authority after the Missouri Attorney General’s Office accused her of misconduct, including an alleged romantic relationship with an illegal immigrant she was prosecuting on sex crime charges. The court issued a preliminary order barring Johnston from practicing law while a petition seeking her removal moves forward
📺 DETAIL: According to the petition, Johnston allegedly helped Juan David Gutierrez, a Mexican national accused of sodomy and attempted sodomy in connection with the alleged 2019 sexual assault of a Ray County woman, avoid arrest by transferring the title of her vehicle to him and failing to disclose his whereabouts. The attorney general’s office also alleges Johnston knew Gutierrez was unlawfully present in the United States and failed to recuse herself from his case despite their relationship. Officials further claim that Johnston later visited Gutierrez after he fled Missouri, including trips to Mississippi and Florida. The removal petition also accuses Johnston of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a defense attorney representing multiple criminal defendants she was prosecuting. Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said Johnston’s alleged conduct represented a sustained pattern of misconduct that undermined public trust and posed a threat to public safety. The investigation began after Richmond Police Chief Scott Bagley notified the attorney general’s office of Johnston’s relationship with Gutierrez in May 2024.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “When an elected official treats public office like their personal playground, betraying the public trust, ignoring legal obligations, and putting self-interest first, removal isn’t a suggestion, it’s a necessity.” – Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway
🎯 IMPACT: Attorney General Hanaway has said Johnston “used the court docket as her dating app,” describing her behavior as “unbelievable” and citing “members of the courthouse walking in on her during one of these incidents.” First elected to her post in 2014, the disgraced prosecutor is apparently running for another term this year.

Republicans Slip Behind Democrats in Three Key Senate Races.

New polling averages have revealed that the Democrats have gained a slight lead in pivotal Senate and gubernatorial races.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: New polling has revealed that support for Republicans has slipped in four key races ahead of the midterm elections, including three Senate races.
📺 DETAIL: According to fresh data from VoteHub, an election media organization, the Democrats have overtaken the Republicans in three critical Senate races, namely Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio, as well as the Ohio gubernatorial race. Specifically, in Iowa, the GOP trails the Democrats by 0.5 percent. Meanwhile, in Michigan, the GOP trails the Democrats by 1.8 percent. In Ohio’s Senate race and race for Governor, Democrats have gained a 0.9 percent lead. Despite these polling shifts, prediction markets still favor GOP candidates in most races, albeit with reduced margins. Specifically, according to Kalshi, the GOP has a 62 percent chance of winning in Iowa and a 56 percent chance of winning the Ohio governorship, while the Ohio Senate race is roughly 50-50.
🎯 IMPACT: This data indicates a tightening race ahead of the midterms in November, with Democrats gaining momentum in battleground states. However, as prediction markets suggest that the GOP still retains a slight edge, it remains unclear whether these polling shifts will translate to actual victories later this year. This data reflects similar findings from April, in which a Harvard Harris poll showed a perfect toss-up between the GOP and the Democrats. The poll revealed that 71 percent of voters plan to participate in the midterms, with both parties successfully consolidating their bases. As such, this data suggests that while Democrats have gained some ground, the races are still highly contested. Back in January, President Donald J. Trump gave a warning to Republicans that failing to retain Congress will likely lead to another impeachment attempt by the Democrats. “You got to win the midterms, because if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just going to be—I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me,” said the President at the time, pushing GOP lawmakers to prioritize voter ID and other election integrity measures.

Trump Proposes Tariffs on Mexico Over Diarrhea Parasite.

President Donald J. Trump has proposed imposing tariffs on Mexico following a nationwide outbreak of a foodborne gastrointestinal parasite potentially linked to lettuce imported from the country.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on Mexico over the spread of a parasite potentially linked to lettuce imported from the country.
📺 DETAIL: On Friday, the President threatened to impose tariffs on Mexico due to a surge in cases of cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness. Approximately 11,000 cases have been reported across 41 states. It has been proposed that the foodborne parasite entered the country via shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms, a supplier of Taco Bell and other retailers, resulting in a voluntary recall. However, as tests at Taylor Farms facilities in Mexico returned false positives, the exact source of the parasite remains unclear. It has also been speculated that the parasite originated with poor hygiene among illegal migrant workers working in American agriculture, as the parasite is known to be transmitted when food or water is contaminated with human feces. The investigation by health officials into the source of the outbreak is ongoing. Since the start of the outbreak, experts have identified a distinct cluster of 72 cases. As such, there may be multiple sources of contamination, although this has yet to be confirmed.
🎯 IMPACT: This represents the first major outbreak of cyclosporiasis since 2019. The last outbreak was linked to basil. According to public health data, the current outbreak has resulted in 308 hospitalizations, with Michigan reporting the most cases. There have been no reported deaths. This echoes a similar threat of tariffs from the President directed at Canada over smoke created by the recent wildfires in the country. “We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their forests and brush,” declared President Trump on Truth Social last week. He reiterated the threat against Canada while discussing the cyclosporiasis situation.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “I think what we are going to do is put a major tariff on Mexico because of the lettuce.” – President Donald J. Trump during a White House press briefing.

DOJ Challenges Dem City’s Ban on Masked Federal Agents.

The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the city of Milwaukee’s ban on masked law enforcement, citing federal supremacy and unconstitutional local interference with federal agencies, such as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against Milwaukee, Wisconsin, over its ban on law enforcement officers wearing masks.
📺 DETAIL: The DOJ asserts that the city’s mask ban violates the Constitution’s supremacy clause. The supremacy clause establishes federal authority as the “supreme law of the land,” overriding conflicting local or state laws. The DOJ further asserts that such policies are part of a broader trend from Democrat-controlled municipal governments to obstruct and undermine federal law enforcement agencies, especially U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). A mask ban means that federal agents can be identified by far-left activists and thus become targets of harassment campaigns for carrying out their duties, such as immigration enforcement. The DOJ has successfully overturned similar bans in other cities, such as Philadelphia. The lawsuit was announced this week following a series of similar actions by the DOJ over the course of the year.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “This Court should join the growing number of others that are putting an end to this type of blatant unconstitutional regulation of the Federal Government,” the DOJ declared in its lawsuit.
🎯 IMPACT: The DOJ’s lawsuit underscores the ongoing tension between federal and local government, especially in jurisdictions that oppose federal immigration enforcement. A ruling in favor of the DOJ could further solidify federal authority over local attempts to prevent federal agencies from carrying out their duties. Back in February, the Trump administration was handed a victory over Democrat Governor of California Gavin Newsom after a California law banning federal agents from wearing masks was blocked by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. However, anti-ICE municipal efforts are unlikely to stop with overturning mask bans. Back in January, Philadelphia District Attorney (DA) Larry Krasner (D), who described ICE agents as “wannabe Nazis” during a rally, threatened sweeping legal action against the agency. If mask bans fail to prevent ICE from carrying out its responsibilities, then municipal leftist hostility towards the agency is likely to redirected towards other efforts.

AOC Joins Calls for Mitch McConnell to Disclose Health Status or Step Down.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has called on Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to provide a health update or step down amid growing concerns about the Senator’s ability to fulfill his duties.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has called on Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to resign if he is unable to fulfill his duties due to health issues.
📺 DETAIL: The 84-year-old McConnell was hospitalized back in June after he was found unconscious at his home. It was later claimed that he had suffered a mild case of pneumonia.” He subsequently issued a statement on July 12 claiming to be recovering, but information regarding his condition has been limited. “As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet. But rest assured that, in the meantime, I’m not taking a break from the Senate business that matters to you,” wrote the Senator earlier this month. Democrat Governor of Kentucky Andy Beshear had previously written to Sen. McConnell requesting an update, but received no immediate reply. On Thursday, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez called for Sen. McConnell to resign. “I understand that people have a right to medical privacy to deal with their issues, but we do not have the right to disappear from our jobs without explanation,” said the Representative. “If he can’t give us an update, he should resign, absolutely… I think it’s been very clear to people across Kentucky that his ‘update’ was not sufficient,” she said earlier this week.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “If Senator McConnell is not capable of as basic a task as answering a letter to Governor Beshear, I think that that conveys a very disturbing inability to fulfill his duties.” – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
🎯 IMPACT: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s demand for Sen. McConnell’s resignation is likely to garner support. Earlier this week, it was revealed that the New York Representative had topped a Democrat primary poll in New Hampshire. As one of the earliest states in the primary process, it is a vital state for a candidate seeking the Presidency to secure in order to gain momentum. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez secured 22 percent in the poll, followed closely by former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on 21 percent. McConnell’s resignation would end the Senator’s lengthy congressional career, which started back in 1985.

Nine Alleged Grooming Gang Members in Court After Investigation Spanning England, Scotland, and Wales.

Nine men face serious charges involving the historic sexual abuse of children over an 11-year period in Great Britain, following an extensive police investigation.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Nine men appeared in court in the United Kingdom on Friday, charged with 41 historical child sex offenses spanning an 11-year period.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “Anyone who reports child abuse will be taken seriously… We will listen, investigate all offenses and make sure you can access the help and support you need.” – Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Tuck, Gwent Police
📺 DETAIL: Nine men, aged between 54 and 76 years old, were charged last week. The men charged were Shafaq Mohammed, Syed Mohammad Ashan Taqvi, Mohammed Sheikh Abdul Hannan, Kevin Lawrence, Sheikh Mohammed Tahir Ullah, Aminur Rahman Chowdhury, Shakeel Babur, Murad Ali, and Mohammed Ramzan. The men were arrested this month following an investigation across Birmingham, Lancashire, and London, in England; Argyll and Bute in Scotland; and Newport and Swansea in Wales. They appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Due to the severity of the cases, the men will appear at Cardiff Crown Court in Wales on August 21. Described by the police as a “complex and long-running investigation into group-based child sexual exploitation in south Wales,” Operation Oak was launched after multiple women reported being sexually abused over the span of 11 years between 1985 and 1996. The eight victims were children at the time, and the abuse took place in Wales. The men were charged with the rape of a female under 16, the rape of a female aged 16 years or over, indecent assault, aiding and abetting the rape of a female under 16, aiding and abetting the rape of a female aged 16 or over, conspiring to rape a girl under the age of 16, conspiring to rape a woman aged 16 years or over, causing the prostitution of a woman, and causing the prostitution of a girl under 16. Despite the seriousness of the offenses, the defendants were granted bail.
🎯 IMPACT: This represents the first court appearance of the nine men since they were charged last week. “We have decided to prosecute eight men with rape and child sexual abuse charges for alleged offending… following a Gwent Police investigation into organised grooming gang activity in South Wales,” said Chief Crown Prosecutor Jenny Hopkins at the time. The case represents another episode in the broader grooming gang scandal in the United Kingdom.

Trump DOJ Commits to Investigating EVERY Voting Violation After THOUSANDS of Noncitizens Found on NJ Voter Rolls.

The Department of Justice has announced an even stricter enforcement strategy on illegal voting, after thousands of noncitizens were registered to vote in New Jersey.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: The top Civil Rights official at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, has said the Trump administration will pursue every provable case of illegal voting under a “broken windows” enforcement strategy, marking a shift from prior administrations that focused primarily on widespread fraud deemed capable of affecting election outcomes. Dhillon said the department will investigate every credible lead and prosecute cases supported by evidence, following reports that hundreds of noncitizens voted in New Jersey after thousands were registered through the state’s motor-voter system.
📺 DETAIL: Dhillon said activists and local officials have provided leads and emphasized prosecutors will bring charges when the evidence is conclusive. Dhillon also said noncitizens found to have voted illegally will face consequences, including being barred from future naturalization. She suggested similar voter registration issues may exist in other states, including California, arguing that automatic voter registration policies and inadequate verification have created vulnerabilities. Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom‘s office responded by claiming that the governor does not administer elections. Dhillon urged states to share electronic voter registration data with federal officials, saying some Democrat-led states have resisted such requests and are facing legal action as a result. She also confirmed the DOJ has deployed federal election monitors to jurisdictions in Arizona and plans to continue monitoring elections nationwide.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “We need to go after every single one of these violations … and we are carefully running down each of these leads.” – Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General
🎯 IMPACT: The DOJ’s intensified scrutiny of voter rolls and enforcement of election laws could lead to significant reforms in how states manage voter registration systems. However, resistance from Democrat-led states to federal oversight may frustrate efforts to address vulnerabilities in election integrity and prevent illegal voting, which tends to favor the Democratic Party.
📺 FLASHBACK: The “broken windows” strategy, popularized in the 1990s by New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, focused on addressing minor offenses to prevent them from escalating into more serious crimes, a philosophy now being applied to voter fraud enforcement by the DOJ.
