❓ WHAT HAPPENED: A new poll has revealed that the vast majority of Americans support President Donald J. Trump’s SAVE America Act. 📺 DETAIL: According to a poll commissioned by Tea Party Patriots Action and conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, a large majority of American voters support the SAVE America Act, which mandates voter ID and proof of citizenship to participate in federal elections. Specifically, the SAVE Act is backed by 94 percent of Republicans, 73 percent of independents, and 68 percent of Democrats. The poll also found that 82 percent of respondents agree that only U.S. citizens should vote in federal elections and 66 percent disagree with the idea that voter ID laws are unfair. Only 29 percent regard them as unfair. Furthermore, 55.5 percent of voters said Congress should continue to work towards passing the SAVE Act before the midterm elections, compared with just 34.1 percent who said the SAVE Act should be dropped. The poll was conducted on July 22 and surveyed 1,000 general election voters across the U.S. “This landmark bill requires that all voters must show photo voter ID… How simple is that? ‘Could I have your photo, please?’ Photo voter ID. All voters must provide proof of citizenship,” President Trump said of the Act last week at the White House. 💬 KEY QUOTE: “Our poll shows that an overwhelming majority of American voters—including a strong majority of Democrats—support proof of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote and showing voter ID when casting a ballot.” – Jenny Beth Martin, Tea Party Patriots Action 🎯 IMPACT: The survey underscores broad public backing for election integrity measures. These findings make congressional Democrat obstruction of the SAVE America Act in Congress even less tenable, considering that a clear majority of the party’s supporters back election integrity measures, including voter ID. This is likely to reinforce the President’s argument that congressional Democrats only oppose the Act because it would hurt their chances of getting elected via fraud. 📺 FLASHBACK: The poll reflects similar findings reported by various polling firms back in March. A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll revealed that 81 percent of Americans back voter ID, including 79 percent of independents and 70 percent of Democrats. Similarly, Pew Research Center found that 83 percent of Americans support voter ID, including a majority of Democrats and independents, as well as a majority of white voters, black voters, and Latino voters. According to Gallup, 84 percent support voter ID, including 98 percent of Republicans, 84 percent of independents, and 67 percent of Democrats. The poll also revealed that 83 percent of Americans support proof of citizenship to vote. Furthermore, Rasmussen revealed that 75 percent support voter ID, with support for such measures increasing over the past ten years. |
