President Donald J. Trump announced early Friday morning that Robinson had been taken into custody by law enforcement. The 22-year-old will be arraigned in a Utah court next Tuesday. In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Utah Valley University, several public figures have faced backlash for comments accused of mocking or minimizing his death. A video emerged showing Representative Ilhan Omar (D‑MN) and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan laughing as they criticized Kirk’s past statements immediately following his killing.

Meanwhile, MSNBC terminated political analyst Matthew Dowd after he appeared to suggest that Kirk had, through his political style and rhetoric, invited “hateful action” against himself. Dowd later apologized, stating he never intended to imply Kirk was to blame for his murder.

Others pointed to past statements by Kirk, including a November 2019 post on X: “I believe marriage is one man one woman. Also gay people should be welcome in the conservative movement. As Christians we are called to love everyone. I will always stand against people who wish to establish their own personal values as a reason to kick others out of the movement.”

Following the pushback, King, who infamously included a child orgy in a sewer in his novel It, deleted his post, writing, “I apologize for saying Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gays. What he actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages.”

During a House Judiciary Committee markup session, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) dismissed Kayla Hamilton, a young woman murdered by an MS-13 illegal immigrant, as a “random dead person.” The comments came in response to a bill, the Kayla Hamilton Act, named in honor of the victim.

Kayla Hamilton, 20, was sexually assaulted and strangled to death by Walter Javier Martinez, a 17-year-old migrant who entered the U.S. under Unaccompanied Alien Child (UAC) status. Martinez was sentenced to 70 years in prison earlier this year.

Crockett criticized the naming of legislation after victims, complaining, “Stop just throwing a random dead person’s name on something for your own political expediency.” She further accused Republicans of exploiting killings by migrants for political purposes, claiming, “Y’all find one terrible situation that took place, and then you say that person’s name, and you wear it out, and you make it political.”

Congressman Russell Fry (R-SC), the sponsor of the Kayla Hamilton Act, condemned Crockett’s remarks, stating, “To dismiss her life so callously is not only disgusting rhetoric, it’s shameful behavior. Let me be clear: Kayla Hamilton was not just a random person. President Donald J. Trump signalled his administration may soon begin investigations into far-left organizations like Antifa and their financial backers, including infamous Hungarian billionaire George Soros and his son Alex. Speaking during a television interview on Friday, President Trump stated, “We’re going to look into Soros because I think it’s a RICO case against him and other people because this is more than protests. This is real agitation; this is riots on the street—and we’re going to look into that.”

Trump’s comments follow previous suggestions of charging the Soros family under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, particularly for alleged involvement in funding violent opposition to federal immigration enforcement actions and National Guard deployments assisting in crime crackdowns.

Soros’s Open Society Foundation (OSF) responded by denying any support for violent protests, calling the prosecution threats “outrageous.” The foundation claims it has consistently maintained a stance against violence.

This is not the first time President Trump has singled out George and Alex Soros as possible subjects of a RICO investigation. We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE.”

According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the federal RICO statute—established in 1970—aims to eliminate organized crime’s infiltration into legitimate organizations. It is broad enough to address illegal activities impacting interstate or foreign commerce. Notably, Soros’s Open Society Foundations have financially supported groups involved in contentious protests and rallies, including one advocating for an accused MS-13 gang member.

Soros’s network has provided millions in funding to organizations such as CASA and Human Rights First, which have been involved in pro-illegal immigrant advocacy and lawsuits against Trump administration policies. Open Society Foundations also allegedly funneled significant funds to groups linked to anti-Israel protests, including those justifying Hamas’s October 7, 2023, terror attacks on Israel.

Soros’s foundations have reportedly funneled over $15 million to groups behind anti-Israel protests since 2016, including $13.7 million through the Tides Center.
