JAN 2024: The Biggest Political Events & Key Dates.

The first month of 2024 promises to be a busy one as the presidential election cycle heats up with the Iowa Republican Caucus happening on January 15th. And while Iowa promises to be, likely, the biggest political event in January, there are a plethora of others which promise to have sizable impacts.

The National Pulse has put together a list of important events and dates of which to keep track – many of which promise to generate some interesting news cycles as well.

  • January 3rd: Speaker of the House Mike Johnson will head to the border to see for himself the growing illegal immigration crisis that continues, unabated under President Joe Biden. The crisis continues to ‘poison the blood‘ of America as drug cartels are using the chaos to smuggle shocking amounts of dangerous drugs across the porous border.
  • January 4th: Thursday could prove to be pivotal for the 2024 presidential election. The Colorado Supreme Court decision removing Donald Trump from the state’s primary ballot was stayed until this date. Many expect the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the decision.
  • January 6th: Saturday will mark the third anniversary of the riot at the U.S. Capitol. Mounting evidence suggests federal agents played a significant role in stoking the riots.
  • January 8th: The U.S. Senate returns to Washington, D.C. It is expected the upper-legislative body will continue efforts to advance a Ukraine-Israel-Border funding supplemental as well as begin moving budget bills to avoid a partial government shutdown 11 days later.
  • January 8th-9th: Doctor Anthony Fauci is expected to give a closed door deposition to Congress under oath.
  • January 9th: The House of Representatives returns to Washington, D.C. Like the Senate the lower-legislative body is expected to move budget bills as a partial government shutdown looms. The Biden impeachment inquiry is also expected to pick up steam throughout January.
  • January 9th: The DC Circuit Court of Appeals will hold an expedited hearing on former President Trump’s immunity claims in the D.C. Jack Smith prosecution. A ruling is not expected for upwards of a month.
  • January 9th: A constitutional challenge to Georgia’s use of electronic voting machines which have cybersecurity flaws is set for a bench trial – meaning no jury. U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg is presiding over the case.
  • January 10th: The last debate before the Iowa Republican Caucus.
  • January 10th: GOP nomination front-runner Donald Trump will hold a town hall event with Fox News’s Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum. It will air on the network at 9pm ET.
  • January 11th: Closing arguments will be held in the Manhattan civil fraud trail against Donald Trump. Judge Engoron and his law clerk Allison Greenfield have demonstrated extreme bias against the former President.
  • January 13th: Taiwan will hold a pivotal presidential election which could have a major impact on regional security.
  • January 13th: National March for Gaza will be held in Washington, D.C. These pro-Hamas demonstrations have often turned aggressive and even violent. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) has played a role in stoking anger among protestors in the past.
  • January 14th: Deadline for Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) to set the special election for the Congressional seat previously held by Kevin McCarthy who retired after being ousted as Speaker by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) last year.
  • January 15th: This day in mid-January will mark 100 days of the Israeli-Hamas war.
  • January 15th: The Iowa Republican Caucus will be held. Nearly $8 million will have been spent by the campaigns in the closing days before Iowans make their choice for the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.
  • January 15th-19th: World Economic Forum‘s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland will take place.
  • Mid-January: House Republicans are expected to begin holding impeachment hearings into President Joe Biden’s abuse of office and violation of public trust while serving as Vice-President in the Obama administration.
  • January 16th: The second E. Jean Carroll v. former President Donald Trump defamation trial is set to start.
  • January 17th-18th: NATO military leaders are expected to review the status of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
  • January 18th: ABC News will hold its New Hampshire Republican presidential primary debate.
  • January 19th: The U.S. federal government will face a partial-shutdown if Congress is unable to reach a funding deal.
  • January 19th: The 43rd annual March for Life will take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
  • January 20th: With the presidential primary season under way, the U.S. will be one year away from inaugurating the next president.
  • January 21st: CNN will host its New Hampshire Republican presidential primary debate.
  • January 23rd: New Hampshire’s Republican presidential primary will take place. Former President Donald Trump – the by-and-large GOP front-runner – currently leads polling in the state.
  • January 29th-30th: Turning Point USA‘s “Alternative RNC” meeting will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • January 30th: The RNC‘s winter meeting will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • January 31st: The deadline for candidates for President, the U.S. House, and U.S. Senate to file their fundraising with the FEC for the final quarter of 2023.

An Australian court has upheld a ruling that populist leader Pauline Hanson violated racial discrimination laws by telling a Muslim senator who attacked that late Queen and the British Empire to go back to Pakistan.

The Full Federal Court rejected Hanson’s arguments that her remarks were protected by free speech and that Australia’s racial discrimination law was unconstitutional on Monday.
📺 DETAIL: Faruqi, who immigrated from Pakistan in 1992 and became Australia’s first Muslim woman elected to parliament, welcomed the decision, saying it was a victory for everyone who has been told to “go back to where you came from.” However, the dispute began after Faruqi attacked the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II following her death, writing, “Condolences to those who knew the Queen. I cannot mourn the leader of a racist empire built on stolen lives, land and wealth of colonised peoples. We are reminded of the urgency of Treaty with First Nations, justice & reparations for British colonies & becoming a republic.” This prompted Hanson to respond, “Your attitude appalls and disgusts me. When you immigrated to Australia you took every advantage of this country. You took citizenship, bought multiple homes, and a job in a parliament. It’s clear you’re not happy, so pack your bags and piss off back to Pakistan.” The appeals court agreed with an earlier ruling that the post was reasonably likely to offend, insult, humiliate, and intimidate Faruqi, as well as Muslim Australians and migrants, describing the comment as a variant of the slogan “go back to where you came from.” The judges also found Hanson failed to establish that her remarks qualified as fair comment on a matter of public interest, namely the Queen’s passing and people’s reaction to it. Hanson said she was disappointed with the ruling, arguing Australians are increasingly prevented from expressing their views, and indicated she is considering an appeal to the High Court of Australia.

Pride Parade Attacker Was a Known Member of ‘The Islamist Scene.’

A recent Islamist attack in Berlin, Germany, has raised questions about the country’s handling of known terror threats.

❓ WHAT HAPPENED: An Islamist attack on Berlin Pride in Germany has left one dead and at least 29 injured.
📺 DETAIL: On Saturday, at approximately 22:00 local time, Abdul Ballout, a 21-year-old German citizen with a Lebanese migration background, struck pedestrians with a van. Ballout was later shot and killed by police. Alexander Dobrindt, Germany’s Interior Minister, said Ballout was known to the authorities for a “high volume of criminal offenses, radicalization, and affiliation with the Islamist scene.“ Last year, Ballout tried to join the Islamic State in Syria, but was arrested in Lebanon in July of the same year. He was subsequently imprisoned for just three months. Ballout was arrested again upon his return to Germany in November 2025. “He was sentenced… under juvenile criminal law… And then, unfortunately, the court handed down a suspended sentence. I don’t want to pass judgement on that—that’s the independence of the judiciary—but I’m really at a loss for words,” said Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin. In response to the attack, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said:” We will have to respond with prudence, but also with determination.”

The British government allowed Islamic bookshops selling “extremist” material to sponsor overseas workers on Skilled Worker visas.

📰 DETAIL: The bookshops include texts which are classed as radicalization material by the British authorities. One of the books sold at the Islamic bookshops, Milestones by Sayidd Qutb, a prominent figure from the Muslim Brotherhood, opposes “world Jewry” and calls for “physical power and jihad” to overthrow Western governments. Qutb’s works also call for jihad to be “carried throughout the earth to the whole of mankind” and claim Jewish people “try to destroy all values and all that is sacred to mankind.” Another work sold at such bookshops, The Fundamentals of Tawheed by Islamic cleric Bilal Philips, states that “un-Islamic government must be sincerely hated and despised.” Philips’s works also support Muslim men beating their wives. It is estimated that dozens of visas have been issued since the previous Conservative government to staff the bookshops. However, despite such material being classed as “extremist” by inspectors from Britain’s Prison Service, it is not illegal to purchase and remains available on major platforms.

Knife Attacker Shouting ‘Allah Ordered Me’ Stabs Three Women.

A knife attack in Paris has left at least three women injured, with the suspect claiming that Allah “ordered” him to do it.

EXCLUSIVE: Burnham’s New Strategy Chief Worked With Convicted Paedophile to Downplay UK Grooming Gangs.

❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Matthew McGregor, Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s Head of Political Strategy, co-authored a report with convicted pedophile Liron Velleman, downplaying what they described as “so-called ‘grooming’ gangs.” Velleman, also a sitting Labour Party elected councillor, was convicted this year after sending images of his penis to someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, as well as asking if she was “at home alone” and demanding to know whether she was a virgin, as well as asking: “Show me your bra.”

On Page 87, in ‘Section 6 – Mainstream Hate,’ a report titled ‘Denialism Must End,’ opens by stating: “LIRON VELLEMAN and MATTHEW MCGREGOR review another year in which poison infected the mainstream.”
On Page 35, in ‘Section 2 – Racism,’ in a sub-section called ‘Truth Under Siege,’ the report describes “trumped-up grooming allegations” in England, and supporters of anti-grooming gangs activists of “accusing police and the media of a ‘cover up’ when police found no evidence of grooming.“
The segment refers to the case of Eleanor Williams, who claimed she had been abused by a grooming gang. However, in 2023, three brothers, Joman, Amran, and Alman Miah, were prosecuted for historic sexual abuse of multiple white working-class girls between 1996 and 2010. The offenses spanned rape, indecent assault, kidnapping, and child sex abuse.
While different from the Williams investigation, the case demonstrated that organized child sexual exploitation had, in fact, occurred. On Page 115, under a sub-section titled “Far Right Alternative Media And ‘Citizen Journalists,'” the report predicted: “If the lockdown measures ease and the pandemic becomes less all consuming, he is likely to return to his longstanding preoccupation with so-called ‘grooming’ gangs.“
On Page 127, under a sub-section titled “Populist/Radical Right,” the report provided a brief overview of Hearts of Oak, a British political commentary channel on YouTube, referencing a Westminster protest organized by the channel’s founders demanding “the deportation of ‘grooming’ gang members.”
🎯 IMPACT: In 2023, in his capacity as Political Organizer for Hope Not Hate, Velleman was invited to the UK Parliament to provide oral evidence regarding the Online Safety Bill, a piece of legislation that has since been passed into law, pitched as aiming to protect children from online pornography, but heavily criticized for its censorious and anti-privacy provisions. Velleman gave evidence regarding protecting “children and adults alike” from “terrorist, illegal, abusive and harmful content.”
Earlier this year, Velleman was sentenced to an eight-month suspended prison sentence for sending a video of his penis to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl in 2024. Velleman was also serving as a Labour Party elected councillor at the time.
Prior to assuming his duties as Head of Political Strategy at Number 10, the Prime Minister’s official residence, McGregor deleted his X (formerly Twitter) account following an expose by The National Pulse revealing his previous posts attacking and smearing President Donald J. Trump and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
McGregor served as Director of Campaigns and Communications for Hope Not Hate from January 2018 to October 2021. McGregor’s involvement in the report is likely to increase scrutiny of Prime Minister Burnham, who has already been accused of helping to cover up the crimes of grooming gangs while serving as Labour Mayor of Greater Manchester.

Syrians Sentenced for Raping Teen at Migrant House.

Two Syrian men have been sentenced to 11 years in prison each for the rape of an intoxicated teenage girl they encountered at a nightclub in England.

❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Two Syrian nationals have each been sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of raping an 18-year-old who was too intoxicated to consent following a night out in Winsford, England. Prosecutors said refugee Dilgash Adil, 32, bought the victim multiple drinks at a nightclub on December 21, leaving her severely intoxicated before taking her to a house in multiple occupation (HMO) for migrants, where he raped her and then facilitated a second assault by asylum seeker Diyar Mohammed Abdulsalm, 28.
📺 DETAIL: The victim repeatedly lost consciousness during the attacks and later called her mother in distress, saying she did not know what had happened. Adil was convicted of one count of rape, while Abdulsalm was convicted of two counts of rape. Both denied the allegations and claimed the sexual activity was consensual. Judge Simon Berkson told the defendants they had deliberately exploited the victim’s vulnerable condition, describing her as incapable of giving consent. The court heard Adil was granted refugee status after arriving in Britain in 2020, while Abdulsalm had claimed asylum in 2023, and his immigration application was still pending when the offenses occurred. In a victim impact statement, the victim said she now suffers panic attacks, struggles to sleep, and no longer feels safe around strangers.
