Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that President Joe Biden would be “better” for Russia than a return of President Donald J. Trump. The comments came during an interview with Russia’s Rossiya 1 TV.
In the conversation, Putin was asked who would be “better for [Russia]” to which he responded “Biden,” calling him “predictable” and “an old-school politician”, while adding that he would “work with any US leader who wins the trust of the American people”.
In a moment where it is unclear if Putin was mocking Biden, he commented about his mental health. “[T]hey were already saying Biden wasn’t competent [in 202 ]… but I saw nothing of the sort. Yes, he looked at his notes, and to be honest, I looked at mine. No big deal. So he banged his head on the helicopter when he was getting out of it — who of us hasn’t banged their head on something?”
The news comes as war continues to rage in Ukraine, both at the behest of Putin and the Western pro-war establishment. Putin’s endorsement of Biden will likely set of a flurry of claims and counter-claims over its seriousness, with Russia hawks likely to suggest Putin is double bluffing. In reality, Russia has exponentially gained under Biden, as have Iran and China.
