Ex-CNN broadcaster Don Lemon, recently let go from a deal with Elon Musk’s X, allegedly made an out-of-this-world list of demands, including soliciting a Tesla Cyber truck, an upfront payment of $5 million, and to be the first man to host a space podcast.
The broadcaster, who made over $20M when he left CNN, wanted an $8 million salary with a $5 million upfront payment. Lemon also attempted to negotiate an equity stake in X and even have a say in the X policy regarding news material.
According to a document from his agent, Lemon demanded a private jet, a suite for him and his partner, and a company covered full-day of relaxation activities. Additionally, Lemon sought financial assistance to build a podcast studio and a ride on a SpaceX rocket to secure a “first to record a podcast in space” title.
Elon Musk responded to the revelations by characterizing Lemon as “Veruca Salt,” the entitled child from the famous book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
