Twitter has canceled a package deal with the Daily Wire website, wherein the two companies were partnering to air Matt Walsh’s documentary What is a Woman? Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing claimed in a thread written Thursday that Twitter identified two instances of “misgendering,” which is considered “abuse and harassment.”
Upon reviewing the documentary, Twitter told the Wire they would only agree to the package provided the “misgendering” was edited out. The platform then insisted that the documentary’s visibility would be severely diminished, whereby it would not appear in the feeds of Twitter users. The Musk-run platform is allegedly now enforcing a “speech not reach” rule – a policy Boreing described as like saying “you have the right to cast a vote, but we’ll make sure it isn’t counted.”
“I hope @elonmusk will reconsider this awful policy,” Boreing concluded.
But it may not be Musk’s decision anymore. The new rules seem to coincide with the incoming CEO Linda Yacarrino, an executive chairwoman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) who has supported “de-risk[ing]” Twitter with “ad safety [and] content moderation.”
She even suggested to Musk that it would be wise to re-establish an “influence council” to help police speech. Meanwhile, Musk has been in China, kowtowing to the Chinese Communist Party.
This is one of the scenes from What Is A Woman that Twitter now says is hate speech.
We will still stream the movie here tonight in its entirety at 8 ET. Twitter has the next 12 hours to decide whether they want to be a true free speech platform or not. pic.twitter.com/8gCx6NB9H3
