A knifeman assaulted a group of young children close to a school in Dublin, injuring five people, three of whom were kids. The attack, reported to have happened today shortly after 1:30pm local time, was disrupted by passersby who intervened. Irish police confirmed that a suspect, unidentified at this point in time, was taken into custody and treated for injuries on the scene.
One child sustained substantial injuries during the assault, while two others have less severe injuries. An adult male and female are also being treated. The five victims were transported to hospitals within the Dublin region, as reported by a Garda spokesperson. The Irish police continue to be in contact with the parents of the three injured children as the investigation proceeds.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly saw a large knife being tossed under trees opposite the Rotunda Hospital, which resides within the vicinity of the incident. Details indicate the site is currently sealed, with investigations ongoing.
