The New York City Police Department (NYPD) bomb squad responded to a suspicious package at the department’s 43rd and 7th Street precinct in Times Square on Monday. Several area streets were blocked off while a bomb disposal technician examined the package lying on a sidewalk.
According to the NYPD, the greater Times Square area, usually packed with thousands of tourists, has been evacuated. Officials say they were first alerted to the suspicious package after a 911 call at 10:32 AM on Monday.
