Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has entered a guilty plea in his federal tax fraud case. The entry of the guilty plea is not believed to be part of a plea deal with the Department of Justice (DOJ). Specifically, Biden’s attorneys filed an Alford plea in which their client acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to convict him, though he does not formally admit to the criminal acts.
The guilty plea means Biden, 53, could face upwards of 17 years in prison. However, the entry of a guilty plea does give some leverage to his attorneys in negotiating with the federal court on sentencing. Jury selection in the tax fraud trial was set to begin today, with opening arguments slated to start next week in California.

According to witnesses in the court at the time, the lead federal prosecutor informed the judge that this was the first time the DOJ had heard of the decision to change the plea to guilty.
In January of this year, HunterBiden was arraigned on nine federal tax charges in Los Angeles on January 11. DOJ Special prosecutor David Weiss alleges Joe Biden’s son “[E]ngaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019” and “spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle at the same time he chose not to pay his taxes.”
Reports suggest JoeBiden is considering pardoning his son in his tax and firearms cases, or commuting his sentences. Such a move would be less immediately damaging to the Democrat politically now he is not running for reelection.

Noelia Linares, who now serves as a business agent at SEIU Local 87, pleaded “no contest” in 2018 to charges of child sexual abuse.
Linares’ legal troubles stem from a 2017 arrest at South San Francisco High School, where she worked as a teaching assistant for bilingual students. Authorities charged her with multiple crimes, including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and showing pornography to minors. Court records reveal that Linares ultimately pleaded “no contest” to two charges—sexual penetration by a foreign object and child molesting—while six other charges were dropped. She served one year in jail and completed probation in 2021.
Despite her criminal record, SEIU Local 87 hired Linares in October 2022. As a business agent, she represents the union in collective bargaining and other matters. Public records obtained by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) confirm the hiring decision.
“The SEIU’s decision to hire a sex offender to leadership shows just how extreme the union has become,” said Tom Jones, President of the AAF. He added that the SEIU is “bankrolling radical left-wing causes and preaching ‘progressive values,’ they protect abusers.”
Linares is listed on California’s sex offender registry, and reports indicate she has been active in union activities, including participating in rallies. SEIU Local 87, which has openly opposed deportation operations and supported sanctuary city policies, has not responded to inquiries about Linares’ employment.
The SEIU, a national labor organization, has long been a significant financial backer of Democratic candidates and causes. Critics argue that Linares’s hiring reflects poorly on the union’s leadership and priorities.

In response, the PSNI deployed water cannons on the protestors. Several cars were also set ablaze, and windows of homes, allegedly belonging to migrants, were vandalized. So far, only one man, aged 29, has been charged with rioting, attempted criminal damage, and disorderly behaviour.

UFC star Conor McGregor, campaigning for the presidency of the independent Republic of Ireland on an anti-migrant crime platform, expressed solidarity with the protestors in Northern Ireland, reposting an X (formerly Twitter) post saying, “Catholics and Protestants stand united in Ballymena tonight and have burned down the houses of migrants who raped a young Irish girl. President Donald J. Trump announced on Wednesday that a “framework deal” has been reached between the United States and China after two days of intensive trade talks in London, England. The agreement, which seeks to ease tensions in the ongoing trade war between the two nations, still requires formal approval by both Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The negotiations concluded late Tuesday night, with both sides confirming progress. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick described the talks as an effort to “get the negativity out” of the bilateral relationship, adding that the focus is now on fostering “positive trade, growing trade.”
Under the proposed framework, China will maintain a 10 percent tariff on U.S. goods, while the U.S. retains a 55 percent tariff on Chinese imports. In exchange, the U.S. will provide aerospace parts and semiconductor programming technology to China, along with renewed access for Chinese students to American universities.

A European country is considering making moves to require Elon Musk‘s X, formerly Twitter, to require verifying the age of its users due to the presence of pornography on the platform. French Digital Minister Clara Chappaz’s office stated this week that it is considering labelling X a pornography platform, which could ban minors from accessing it.
“X has indicated since 2024 that it accepts the distribution of pornographic content. It must therefore be treated as such,” the minister’s office said on June 9. The minister’s office is reportedly currently reviewing whether or not X meets the requirements in French law that demand pornography websites verify user ages.
Minister Chappaz herself appeared on French television last week, stating that X would be receiving the same instructions as the website YouPorn, demanding that X ban pornographic content or comply with age verification requirements.
Porn websites are trying to resist the new measures, which had to be in place as of June 7, with those refusing to comply being either geoblocked in France entirely or having their results scrubbed from major search engines. Other countries have also expressed concerns over pornography on X, including Belgium and Tanzania, which blocked X last week.
Similar measure have been taken against porn websites in the United States by individual state governments. As a result, sites such as Pornhub have removed themselves from states like Texas in recent months in protest over age verification requirements.
Sweden, another European Union (EU) country, has also recently enacted anti-pornography laws that essentially ban websites like OnlyFans. The Swedish law makes it illegal for anyone to purchase sexual material from another person remotely, banning webcam pornography platforms and others where users directly pay for sexual acts.

The timing of Green’s departure is significant, as Republicans maintain a narrow 220-212 majority in the House. His presence ensures an additional GOP vote for the budget reconciliation bill, which narrowly passed the House by a single vote in May and enacts a bulk of President Trump’s policy agenda. The legislation, now under consideration in the Senate, will return to the House for approval of any amendments before heading to President Trump’s desk.
“It was the honor of a lifetime to represent the people of Tennessee in Congress,” Green said in a statement, adding: “They asked me to deliver on the conservative values and principles we all hold dear, and I did my level best to do so.”
Green’s seat will be filled through a special election, the timing of which will depend on his departure date.

Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson has said that at least 33 noncitizens voted in last year’s presidential election, and they have been referred to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office. Should the noncitizens be found to have voted illegally, they could face serious penalties, including prison for voter fraud.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott commented on the issue on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Texas continues to monitor voter rolls. Whenever we find noncitizen voters we refer them for criminal investigation. To be clear, only legal citizens can vote.”
The move comes after Texas officials were granted the ability to look at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service’s (USCIS) Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Database. Secretary Nelson labelled access to SAVE, “a game-changer.”
States were granted access by President Donald J. Trump earlier this year through an executive order after former President Joe Biden had refused to let them access it last year. Governor Abbott has also worked to strengthen election integrity in Texas by signing a bill last month that will allow Texans to add citizenship requirements for voting to the Texas constitution.
Last year, Texas dropped over a million ineligible voters from its voter rolls, thousands of whom were illegal aliens, alongside hundreds of thousands of dead people.
