A federal agent fired his weapon during a law enforcement operation in Compton, California, on Wednesday after a suspect used his vehicle to strike officers while attempting to avoid arrest, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The incident occurred during a targeted operation to apprehend William Eduardo Moran Carballo, a Salvadoran national accused of involvement in human smuggling. DHS said Carballo had previously been arrested twice for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and was the subject of a final order of removal issued by an immigration judge in 2019.
“In a dangerous attempt to evade arrest, this criminal illegal alien weaponized his vehicle and rammed law enforcement. Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired defensive shots,” a DHS spokesman said. Authorities said the suspect was not hit by the gunfire and fled on foot before being taken into custody. A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer was injured during the encounter, while the suspect was unharmed.
DHS, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), argued that sanctuary policies and ongoing violent anti-ICE protests have emboldened criminals to resist arrest. “These dangerous attempts to evade arrest have surged since sanctuary politicians, including Governor [Gavin] Newsom, have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest and provided guides advising illegal aliens how to recognize ICE, block entry, and defy arrest,” the agency said. The agency noted there has been a 3,200 percent increase in vehicle attacks against law enforcement.
The Compton confrontation comes amid a series of recent attacks targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and other federal officers. In one case, federal authorities offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to the capture of an illegal immigrant accused of ramming ICE agents with a vehicle. In another case, an illegal immigrant received a 20-year federal prison sentence for a violent assault on an ICE officer.
Additional incidents have included a California professor accused of attacking ICE agents with tear gas and a reported 1,000 percent increase in assaults on ICE personnel following a sniper attack, according to federal officials.

A woman told an English court that President Donald J. Trump‘s son Barron Trump “helped save my life” after he contacted police when he realized she was being assaulted, according to testimony heard this week in London. Jurors were told that Barron Trump was in the United States when he received a FaceTime call from the woman, with whom he is friends, and soon realized she was being attacked. Speaking to a police operator, Trump said, “I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up.”
Trump described what he saw on the video call: “I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit.” He made the report around 2:20 AM London time in January last year.
The court heard that the alleged attacker, Russian national Matvei Rumiantsev, had earlier become angry after attempting to contact the woman. According to reports, prosecutors said Rumiantsev later went to her home, punched her repeatedly, kicked her in the stomach, and shouted insults at her during the video call with Barron, calling her a “whore” and a “slut.”
During her testimony, the woman praised Barron’s actions. “He helped save my life,” she said. “That call was like a sign from God at that moment.”
Jurors also heard the recording of the emergency call, during which the operator asked Barron how he knew the woman. Trump appeared frustrated by the questioning and urged police to act quickly. He also told operators that it took him several minutes to find the correct phone number for British emergency services from abroad.
Rumiantsev is facing multiple charges, including assault, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was alerted by Google regarding the threats, which were posted on the company’s YouTube video platform under the username “Adrian Tepes”. According to the criminal complaint, Prigmore wrote threatening comments such as “C*vil w*r. I can’t wait for the opportunity to k*ll people like you. Tell your friends,” and “Prep for civil w*r. Prep for d*th c*mps. Prep for k*illing f*ederal *g*nts.” He also allegedly posted that President Trump “needs to die to save lives.”

The House Oversight Committee voted to hold former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton, in criminal contempt of Congress after they refused multiple attempts to enforce a congressional subpoena to compel their testimony as part of the committee’s investigation into deceased pedophile and financier Jeffrey Epstein. While Democrats largely opposed the contempt measure during the debate prior to the vote, ranking members on the committee largely acknowledged that the subpoena was legally valid—contradicting assertions made by attorneys for the Clintons.
“Subpoenas are not mere suggestions. They carry the force of law and require compliance. Former President Clinton and Secretary Clinton were legally required to appear for depositions before this committee. They refused,” Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, both Bill and Hillary Clinton defied a congressional subpoena that compelled their testimony before the House panel. The testimony was slated for January 13 and 14; however, an attorney representing the Clintons stated that neither would appear before the House panel and argued that the congressional subpoena is “legally unenforceable.”
Over the last week, attorneys for the Clintons have attempted to extract unusual concessions from the House Oversight Committee, including a demand that Chairman Comer meet with Bill Clinton at his office in New York instead of on Capitol Hill. The National Pulse reported on Tuesday that attorneys for the Clintons alleged that Chairman Comer was insisting on a hearing format “that would allow members of the committee to harass our clients, and indicated you would proceed with plans to hold our clients in contempt if they did not agree.”
With the adoption of the criminal contempt of Congress resolutions, the measures will now move to a vote before the full House of Representatives. According to Chairman Comer, final votes in the House chamber are expected within the next two weeks.
